Toledo Plant to Build Electronics Module for Jeep Hybrid

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV says the company’s machining facility in Toledo, Ohio, will produce the power electronics module for the plug-in hybrid variant of its new Jeep Wrangler SUV.
The module houses the power inverter and integrated dual charger module, which consists of the onboard charger and DC/DC converter. In the Wrangler, the power electronics unit will be packaged under the vehicle between the exhaust pipe and prop shaft.
Toledo Machining will assemble the sub-systems for the module, upload the applicable software for the power inverter and conduct final testing on the coolant and electrical systems. Finished modules will be delivered to Jeep’s nearby Toledo assembly complex, where the Wrangler PHEV will be built.
Due in 2020, the Wrangler PHEV will become one of more than 30 FCA nameplates with electrified powertrains that the company plans to launch by 2022. Jeep introduced the all-new conventional Wrangler—with gasoline and diesel engines—earlier this year.
