Peter Zelinski is the founding editor of Additive Manufacturing magazine and Additive Manufacturing Media, which for over 10 years has reported on industrial 3D printing and its adoption by manufacturers. As the brand’s editor-in-chief, Pete is exploring the advance of 3D printing as a means of production, and the ways it is changing both part design and manufacturing enterprises. He has been a regular speaker at the Additive Manufacturing Conference, which is now the Formnext Forum, and he is co-creator and co-host of the video series on 3D printing for part production, The Cool Parts Show — a show that has been honored with a national award for Best Use of Video in niche media. He is a podcaster, appearing regularly with Additive Manufacturing Media colleagues in AM Radio, and he has also appeared in a sister podcast, Made in the USA. In 2020, he was co-host of the U.S. Air Force’s week-long event aimed at manufacturing for military readiness and sustainment, the Advanced Manufacturing Olympics. Pete also serves as editorial director of Modern Machine Shop, a sister publication focused on metalworking and CNC machining, and the magazine he has been part of for over 25 years. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
Brent Donaldson is Editor-in-Chief for Modern Machine Shop, where he is oversees the brand’s writing staff as well as day-to-day management of editorial operations. Brent also serves as a columnist and feature writer, and reports regularly about his travels to machine shops, trade shows and conferences around the country and internationally. Brent is also co-host, producer and editor of Modern Machine Shop’s documentary-style podcast, “Made in the USA.” Brent joined Gardner Business Media as a senior editor for Additive Manufacturing Media, reporting and writing about industrial 3D printing technologies for the brand’s print magazine and website.
Before joining Gardner, Brent was Editor-in-Chief of Northern Kentucky University Magazine — the same university from which he received his journalism degree in 2005. Brent previously served as associate editor for Cincinnati Magazine, and is the recipient of two Ohio Excellence in Journalism awards for feature news writing, Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists awards, and more than 40 individual awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for writing and editorial.
Fun fact: Brent was the last journalist ever to interview Evel Knievel.
Derek Korn was named Production Machining’s Editor-in-Chief in 2020. Prior to that, he spent 16 years writing for Modern Machine Shop magazine and seven years with an industrial public relations company. He says visiting CNC machine shops to write about how they leverage new technology and processes to their advantage is the most enjoyable part of his job. In this role, he gets to help guide the brand as it focuses on helping niche machining businesses — many of which perform high-precision, high-volume CNC turning work — become more efficient operations. His mechanical engineering technology degree from the University of Cincinnati provides a firm foundation for understanding manufacturing technology so that he can explain its benefits to owners and managers of precision machining operations.
