Porsche AG says it will install quick-charge facilities at each of the U.S. dealerships ahead of the launch of the brand’s electric sedan at the end of next year.
The company also will add the 800-volt chargers at its U.S. headquarters in Atlanta and its customer “experience centers” in Atlanta and Los Angeles.
The direct-current system will be able to restore 80% of battery capacity—enough to drive 250 miles—in about 20 minutes. Porsche says it is coordinating the installations with other groups to establish a nationwide web of quick-charge stations for cities and the highways that connect them.
Porsche promises true Porsche performance for its unnamed EV, which will be a production version of the Mission E concept (pictured). The company vows that the car will be able to repeatedly accelerate to top speed or run at high speeds for long periods.
