Honda to Make Hybrids in Thailand

Honda Motor Co. is preparing to launch production in Thailand of hybrid cars and the batteries that help power them.
The carmaker predicts that 50% of its sales in Thailand will be hybrids within the next few years.
Honda didn’t reveal the hybrid model it plans to produce. But the Bankok Post predicts it will be the hybrid version of the Honda Accord sedan. The cars and batteries will be built at existing Honda facilities in Ayutthaya and Prachin Buri.
The program represents an investment of 23.8 billion baht ($716 million), according to Honda. Thailand’s Board of Investment has granted the carmaker incentives worth 5.8 billion baht ($175 million).
