Volkswagen AG’s Porsche unit has asked a court in Stuttgart to block local prosecutors from examining documents they seized in their probe of diesel emission cheating, Reuters reports.
Authorities collected an undisclosed number of files a week ago during raids at 10 Porsche sites in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg. Prosecutors arrested Joerg Kerner, the head of Porsche powertrain development, three days later. A source tells Reuters he is being detained over concerns he could flee and/or destroy evidence.
Porsche says it filed an appeal to return all documents because of the volume of materials seized, some of which it claims are irrelevant to the investigation. The company adds that it is fully cooperating with authorities and “takes an interest in clearing up the matter.”
