No Diesel for Ford Transit Connect Van

The current-generation model (pictured) was launched last year with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine. At the time, Ford said it would add a 1.5-liter diesel in 2019.
The oil burner was expected to produce 120 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency highway fuel efficiency rating of 30 mpg. The gasoline four-banger makes 162-hp and 144-lb-ft, with an EPA rating of 24 mpg in the city and about 27-29 mpg (depending on configuration) on the highway.
Ford attributes its decision to dwindling demand for diesel engines. More stringent certification processes also may have been a factor, C&D speculates.
