Daimler AG illegally told workers at its Mercedes-Benz assembly plant in Vance, Ala., they could not discuss or promote unionization during their free time at the factory, Bloomberg News reports.
Its cites a ruling by the National Labor Relations Board last week. It upholds an administrative judge opinion that the facility's employee handbook broke U.S. labor laws by banning workers from union activities between shifts.
Bloomberg says the NLRB has ordered Daimler to update the plant's handbook with an insert emphasizing that workers are free to "form, join or assist a union."
