Daimler AG’s bus operations plans to launch new all-electric and fuel cell-powered versions of its Citaro city bus by the end of 2018.
The company has been testing various prototype buses using the two technologies in real-world fleet applications for several years. Designed to be used in multiple regions, the new models will be based on a Daimler’s E-Mobility modular platform that offers multiple power levels and can accommodate a variety of configurations, including articulated models.
The fourth-generation F-Cell fuel cell bus will be more efficient and less expensive than its predecessors, according to Daimler. Likewise, the new E-Cell electric bus boasts improvements in power, reliability and flexibility.
