Samsung to Test Self-Driving Cars in California
Samsung Electronics America Inc.’s semiconductor unit has joined 38 other companies that have been granted licenses to test autonomous vehicles on public roads in California, the Financial Times reports.

Samsung Electronics America Inc.’s semiconductor unit has joined 38 other companies that have been granted licenses to test autonomous vehicles on public roads in California, the Financial Times reports.
The South Korean electronics giant received similar clearance in May to test cars in its home market. The company said two years ago it intended to develop technologies such as software and sensors for self-driving cars—but not entire autonomous vehicles.
California’s Dept. of Motor Vehicles says Samsung’s permit covers on-road testing of specially equipped Audi A3 small sedans and a Toyota Prius hybrid sedan.
