General Motors Co. plans to expand the use of its semi-autonomous Super Cruise system down to the entry-level XT4 crossover (pictured), but only after the technology becomes more affordable.

GM launched Super Cruise last autumn as a $5,000 option on its flagship CT6 sedan. This makes the technology too expensive for the all-new XT4, which is due to start at just under $36,000 when it bows later this year.

But Cadillac plans to gradually add Super Cruise to other models, including the XT4. Super Cruise is “part of what we do,” Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen tells Motor Authority.

Cadillac unveiled the 2019 XT4 last week at the New York auto show. The vehicle will include blind-spot monitoring as standard, with a limited number of other advanced driver assistance features as options.
