Japan’s Kobe Steel Ltd. says it has found another case of employees falsifying reports about product quality and performance, this time at a subsidiary that cuts steel plates, Reuters reports.

The company, also known as Kobelco, says it also discovered an instance where employees covered up similar activities rather than report them to an internal investigation into fabricated data about Kobe aluminum and copper products. The company tells reporters it will create a panel of outsiders to investigate the wrongdoing to supplement its own team.

Kobe’s woes have touched all its major product lines and materials. The scandal covers products used by 500 companies worldwide. Earlier this week Japanese carmakers declared safe the Kobe-supplied aluminum sheet stock they used to make car hoods and other exterior panels.
