GM Plants Affected by Japan Quakes to Revive Production
Four General Motors Co. assembly plants in North America whose supply chains were disrupted last month by earthquakes in Japan are expected to resume normal operations on May 9, The Japan Times reports.

Four General Motors Co. assembly plants in North America whose supply chains were disrupted last month by earthquakes in Japan are expected to resume normal operations on May 9, The Japan Times reports.
Production at the factories was upset on April 25, a week after two temblors in southern Japan killed 49 people and damaged several key supplier factories. The quakes forced Toyota Motor Corp. to briefly idle all its assembly plants in Japan.
A United Auto Workers union official tells The Japan Times the disaster halted the supply of unspecified electronic components made in Japan. But GM says the two-week production cut will have no significant long-term impact on it production or full-year financial results.
The affected GM plants are in Lordstown, Ohio; Kansas City, Kan.; Spring Hill, Tenn.; and Oshawa, Canada.
