General Motors Co. says it now has 100 self-driving cars being tested in San Francisco, nearly three times the size of its fleet three months ago.

The cars are being evaluated by Cruise Automation Inc., the autonomous car technology startup GM acquired last year.

Separately, GM reports that six of the test cars were struck in September by other vehicles, including one bicycle. California requires testers of robotic cars to report all crashes, no matter how minor.

GM says none of its cars were at fault and none of the incidents caused injury or serious damage. Most of the crashes occurred when the Bolt was slowing for stop signs or perceived traffic issues, according to the company. It acknowledges its autonomous-driving technology must “continue to learn how humans drive and improve how we share the road.”
