Prosecutors in Germany have widened their investigation into Audi AG’s role in parent Volkswagen AG’s diesel emission cheating scandal to include two if its former management board members.
Authorities didn’t disclose names. But Wirtschaftswoche says investigators raided three homes last Thursday, including those of ex-board members Ulrich Hackenberg and Stefan Knirsch.
Hackenberg was Audi’s chief engineer before being suspended in 2015 shortly after the scandal surfaced. Knirsch, who succeeded Hackenberg in January 2016, was forced out of the company nine months later.
Reuters notes that no current Audi board members are among the list of suspects, which has now grown to 17.
