Artificial Intelligence Startup Raises $65 Million
ThinCI Inc., an El Dorado Hills, Calif.-based startup that specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) and vision processing technologies for self-driving cars, says it raised $65 million through a just-completed Series C funding round.
ThinCI Inc., an El Dorado Hills, Calif.-based startup that specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) and vision processing technologies for self-driving cars, says it raised $65 million through a just-completed Series C funding round.
The funding round was led by Denso Corp.—with its new Nsitexe subsidiary—and Temasek, a Singapore investment company. Denso, which also invested in ThinCI in 2016, is working with the California company to develop and commercialize next-generation semiconductors and processors to enable autonomous driving systems.
Other companies participating in ThinCI’s latest funding round include Daimler, GCV Capital and the Toyota-backed Mirai Creation Fund. Magna is listed as one of ThinCI’s earlier investors.
ThinCI says its programmable computing architecture can accelerate deep learning, AI and other algorithms for advanced automotive systems. The technology is expected to provide as much as 10 times the computing power and performance of current processors.
