2017 VW e-Golf to Get 50% Longer Range
Volkswagen AG says the 2017 version of its e-Golf electric vehicle will feature a new battery that increases driving range by 50% to 300 km (186 miles) based on the European driving cycle and an estimated 125 miles (125 km) in the U.S.

Volkswagen AG says the 2017 version of its e-Golf electric vehicle will feature a new battery that increases driving range by 50% to 300 km (186 miles) based on the European driving cycle and an estimated 125 miles (200 km) in the U.S.
The 2017 EV will feature a 35.8-kWh battery made of 37-Ah cells. The current model has a 24.2-kWh system with 25-Ah cells. This year's e-Golf has a range of 190 km (118 miles) in Europe and an Environmental Protection Agency rating of 83 miles (134 km) in the U.S.
Volkmar Tanneberger, who heads VW’s EV development, detailed the e-Golf plans at the recent Formula E electric vehicle race in Berlin. He says the new e-Golf's electric motor output will jump 20% to 120 kW.
Additional improvements are expected with the next-generation of the e-Golf, which is targeted to launch by 2020.
