The auto industry’s transition to self-driving cars will bring a huge change in the way vehicle interiors are designed.
For one thing, occupants won’t necessarily be seated upright and facing forward, notes Nicholas Petouhoff, executive director of advanced product development at seating supplier Adient. That means today’s airbag and seatbelt systems won’t be as effective, for example.
