Volkswagen AG, which a week ago invested $300 million in Israeli-based ride-hailing provider Gett, says the two companies are partnering to launch Gett services in Berlin and several other large cities in Germany and other European countries next year.

The carmaker’s aim is not just to partner with a ride-hailing provider but to create an “integrated mobility ecosystem,” CEO Matthias Mueller declares. He says VW expects mobility services will account for a “significant” share of group revenue by 2025.

Gett current operates about 50,000 taxis in 60 cities in Israel, Russia, the U.K. and the U.S. The company has specialized in corporate transportation and delivery services.

VW’s side of the partnership will be led by Ole Harms, who heads the carmaker’s New Business and Mobility unit. VW said last month it will offer Gett drivers with discount of VW Group vehicles they use on the job.
