VW Resumes Car Assembly in Nigeria

Volkswagen AG began on Tuesday to assemble vehicles in Nigeria for the first time in 25 years.
The company is making CC, Jetta and Passat sedans and Amarok small pickup trucks in Lagos through local production partner Stallion Group. VW began making the Beetle in Lagos in 1975 but stopped in 1990 when demand weakened.
Stallion, which is based in Dubai, is VW's official distributor in Nigeria for Audi, Porsche, Skoda and VW brands. Stallion already assembles vehicles in Nigeria for Ashok Leyland, Hyundai, Iveco and Nissan.
