Vietnam’s FPT Targets Low-Cost Autonomous System in 2 Years

The company showcased its first such system in October by outfitting a miniature car with sensors and a camera. The Nikkei says FPT has created a 1,400-member task force to commercialize the technology and will begin testing it in full-scale vehicles later this year.
FPT estimates it will generate $200 million per year in the sale of autonomous systems by 2020. The company tells The Nikkei it is working with carmakers in the U.S., Japan and South Korea.
