A U.S. federal judge in California has ruled that a class-action lawsuit may proceed against Daimler AG and several top executives over claims they failed to disclose excessive emissions from the carmaker’s diesel engines.
The lawsuit was filed last year by investors. It names as co-defendants CEO Dieter Zetsche, Chief Financial Officer Bodo Uebber and Thomas Weber, head of Daimler research and Mercedes-Benz development.
Daimler, which cautioned in April about possible penalties resulting from diesel probes in the U.S. and Germany, says the lawsuit “lacks merit.”
