Zap-Map has launched two peer-to-peer charging networks for all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the U.K.
The services (Zap-Home and Zap-Work) provide vehicle owners greater access to charging stations, while generating income for people and businesses with charging ports. Zap-Map says nearly half of EV owners and 30% of businesses are willing to share their chargers with others.
Charging points on the network are displayed on Zap-Map, but only registered users are able to access contact information. The company estimates there are more than 60,000 charger-equipped households willing to participate.
Members contact such owners directly to arrange a charge. Unit owners set their own fees and collect payments via PayPal.
Zap-Map provides members with updated information about EV charging stations in the U.K., including location, type and fees.
