U-Mich. Mobility Transformation Center Gets New Name

The University of Michigan Mobility Transformation Center has become Mcity, a name that formerly referred to MTC’s two-year-old test facility in Ann Arbor.
The center was created in 2013 as a partnership between government and industry to support research on connected and autonomous vehicles. In addition to operating the 32-acre Mcity test track, the organization funds academic research and works with the U-Mich. Transportation Research Institute to test connected and autonomous vehicles on Ann Arbor roads.
Mcity currently has more than 65 industry partners. The organization reports it has spent about $16 million on nearly 30 research projects.
