Drivers like owning their own cars, and they look for advanced technology services that provide value, according to a new study by Continental AG.

Of study respondents, 95% own their vehicles, and only 1% use car-sharing services.

Of respondents between 16 and 25 years old, 84% say they believe driving is important. Conti notes that industry experts expect 65 million Millennials to purchase a vehicle within five years.

The ubiquitous use of electronic devices means demand for in-vehicle connectivity will grow, says Conti. The company says cars must become even smarter to stay relevant to buyers.

Two-thirds of study respondents want wi-fi inside the vehicle. Nearly 60% expect technology that improves traffic control and provides cloud-based connectivity.
