General Motors Co. has idled an assembly line at its plant in Oshawa, Ont., and slowed another line because of parts shortages.
The disruption is the result of a walkout on Sunday at a nearby Lear Corp. seat factory by 400 members of the Canadian Auto Workers union. The Oshawa complex builds such models as the Chevrolet Impala large sedan and Chevy Equinox midsize crossover vehicle.
The CAW said late Monday it had a tentative agreement with the supplier. Members are scheduled to vote on the proposal this coming weekend.
Separately, CAW members walked off the job on Saturday at exhaust manifold maker Wescast Industries Inc. in Strathroy, Ont. Workers there allege that a GM sourcing decision will transfer their work to China.
