Self-Driving Hyundai Genesis Approved for Testing in South Korea

A specially equipped version of Hyundai Motor Co.’s Genesis sedan is the first vehicle to be approved for autonomous testing in South Korea.
However, the approval comes with stipulations, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency. It says at least two people must be in the vehicle during autonomous operation, which will be limited initially to a handful of pre-approved routes. Other routes will be added later this year.
Last year, Hyundai vowed to introduce vehicles with highly automated features in 2020 and launch a fully autonomous model by 2030. The 2016 Genesis EQ900 includes several driver assist systems such as automated cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.
