Audi helped develop VW engines that were fitted with illegal software to cheat emission standards. Those engines include the 3.0-liter V-6 diesel Audi uses in many of its products.
Stadler headed Audi during the past eight years when VW sold 11 million vehicles worldwide that were equipped with the cheater software. He also has been a member of VW Group’s nine-member executive board since 2010.
