New Renault System Cuts Diesel NOx Emissions 50%
This summer Renault SA will begin equipping its diesel-powered vehicles in Europe with advanced emissions systems that can reduce oxides of nitrogen emissions by as much as 50% during certain driving conditions.
This summer Renault SA will begin equipping its diesel-powered vehicles in Europe with advanced emissions systems that can reduce oxides of nitrogen emissions by as much as 50% during certain driving conditions.
The new technologies include an enhanced exhaust gas recirculation system. Renault says the technology doubles the system’s operating temperature range without diminishing fuel efficiency, vehicle performance or reliability.
Renault also says it has improved the performance of in-vehicle NOx traps by increasing the frequency and efficiency of NOx purges over a wide range of driving conditions.
The company will begin installing the system on new models in July. Customers who have taken delivery of 2016 vehicles before this time can have their cars retrofitted with the new technology later this year, free of charge.
