Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz unit will take the wraps off a fuel cell-powered version of its GLC crossover vehicle at next month’s Frankfurt auto show.
The long-rumored vehicle will have a driving range of 500 km (311 miles) on its hydrogen fuel tank, according to the carmaker. The fuel cell drivetrain and electric motor are said to take up the same space as a that of a conventionally powered model.
Sales are expected to start sometime next year.
Mercedes also plans to show an EQ-badged electric hatchback and its so-called “Project One” hypercar in Frankfurt. The latter will feature a Formula One-type hybrid-electric drivetrain.
