South Korea’s environmental ministry has filed a court complaint claiming Nissan Motor Co. rigged diesel emission test results for its Qashqai crossover vehicle.

The ministry announced in May it intended to fine Nissan 330 million won ($284,000) for the infraction. It also ordered Nissan to recall about 800 of the vehicles. Nissan insists the Qashqai meets all Korean emissions standards.

The ministry also is investigating 19 other diesel-powered models sold in the country. Its probe was prompted by Volkswagen AG’s admission last September that it rigged 11 million diesels worldwide to evade emission laws.
