Hyundai Motor Co. is launching a comprehensive leasing program for its 2017 Ioniq electric vehicle that covers all fees, scheduled maintenance, battery recharging costs and unlimited mileage.
Available in select areas in California, the three-year “Unlimited+” plan starts at $275 per month for the base model. The mid-level Ioniq Limited costs $305 per month and the top-end Ultimate package adds another $60.
The $2,500 down payment can be completely offset by the same amount through the U.S. federal tax incentive currently available to EV buyers. All taxes, fees and dealer charges, except California state taxes, are included in the monthly lease payment.
There are no mileage penalties during the lease period. The program also includes reimbursement for recharging costs for the first 50,000 miles of use. And all service, maintenance and wear items are covered free of charge for the same interval. As is true of other EVs, the Ioniq can use high-occupancy vehicle lanes in California.
Buyers can select a specific vehicle from a dealer’s inventory and complete a credit application online. Once the deal is approved, owners pick up their vehicle at a local dealership.
The Ioniq Electric initially will be available in Los Angeles. Dealers in San Diego and northern California will be added later this year. Buyers also can purchase the EV outright, with pricing starting at $29,500.
