Ford Brooms Top Managers at Chicago Plant
Ford Motor Co. has replaced several senior managers at its Chicago Assembly plant after a federal investigation found evidence of widespread sexual harassment and racial discrimination there, the Times of Northwest Indiana reports.

Ford Motor Co. has replaced several senior managers at its Chicago Assembly plant after a federal investigation found evidence of widespread sexual harassment and racial discrimination there, the Times of Northwest Indiana reports.
Among those removed were the plant manager and several members of the human resource and labor relations offices, according to the newspaper. It reports that Ford also temporarily suspended Coby Millender, the plant's United Auto Workers union bargaining chairman.
An initial federal lawsuit filed last November by four women employees at the plant was expanded last week to include 33 plaintiffs. The women said supervisors groped them, propositioned them, showed lewd photos of themselves and demoted or denied overtime to those who complained.
The Chicago plant has been hit with sexual harassment charges before. In 2000 Ford agreed to pay nearly $20 million to settle a lawsuit about similar complaints. The lawyer who handled that case is leading the current lawsuit, which claims Ford continues to ignore "discrimination and harassment which occurs on a daily basis in an open manner."
