Delphi, Mobileye Choose Intel Chip for Autonomous Vehicle Systems

Delphi Automotive and Mobileye will use an Intel “system-on-chip” microprocessor to control self-driving vehicle systems they are developing.
Delphi tells Reuters the partners expect to debut the first such system for self-driving commercial vehicles or shuttles that operate in a limited area or fixed route. The companies will demonstrate their technology at CES in Las Vegas in January.
Delphi is testing autonomous technologies in Singapore now. Glen De Vos, the company’s vice president of engineering, tells Reuters similar fleet tests of self-driving cars will begin in the U.S. next year.
Reuters says the choice of an Intel chip will help bolster that company’s presence in the emerging autonomous vehicles market. Intel also is working with BMW and Mobileye on self-driving systems
