BMW AG has agreed to supply hybrid powertrain components, including high-voltage battery chargers, to California-based Karma Automotive LLC.
Karma was relaunched in 2014 by China’s Wanxiang Group from the acquired assets of bankrupt Fisker Automotive Inc. Now headquartered in Costa Mesa, the company aims to introduce an updated version of Fisker’s hybrid Karma luxury sedan in 2016.
The company also is developing a next generation of vehicles that will use more of BMW’s powertrain technology, according to CEO Bernhard Koehler.
