BMW AG says it is considering having a third party assemble unspecified vehicles at a Mitsubishi Motor Corp. assembly plant in the Netherlands known as NedCar.
Last week BMW dismissed as speculation a Dutch newspaper report that the carmaker was in talks to have bus maker VDL Groep begin making its cars at the factory as early as 2014. BMW denied rumors this spring that it might build its Mini brand vehicles at NedCar.
MMC announced in February that it plans to stop building vehicles at the plant by year-end but agreed to discuss ways of keeping the factory open. The government and the plant's union have been seeking a buyer.
