Bentley Motors Ltd. (Crewe, U.K.) reveals a one-of-a-kind personal commission featuring one of its most complex paint offerings to date — Ombre by Mulliner. Painted by hand at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England, this exterior finish transitions between two paint colors over the length of the car, creating a visually captivating result. This technique is now available to order in three distinct color combinations through Mulliner, the bespoke division of Bentley.

The process begins with spraying the car in contrasting colors at the front and rear. The blend is then applied in stages using paint tinted through traditional mixing methods to achieve the ombre effect. This fade effect requires two paint technicians approximately 56 hours to complete, ensuring a seamless blend. Due to the complexity of combining the paints, the available color choices are specifically curated to promote a uniform and gradual transition. Each paint color behaves differently during application, requiring the technician to adapt during the process. As a result, each car is distinctive while maintaining a consistent appearance to the naked eye.

The first car to showcase the ombre process is a Continental GT Speed, displayed at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week. The car’s exterior fades from Topaz at the front to Windsor Blue at the rear, with the fade most noticeable through the center section, following the angle of the rear haunch line. The 22-inch 10-spoke swept wheels match the body panels they align with — Topaz at the front and Windsor Blue at the rear.

To maintain harmony throughout the vehicle, Mulliner’s Bespoke Studio has applied the same graded approach to the interior. The front cabin features bespoke Topaz hide on the seats, steering wheel and instrument panel, flowing into the center console. The rear cabin transitions to the darker Beluga tone. A Dragonfly accent color highlights the piping and stitching of the seats and doors. Other surfaces within the cabin focus on texture, with Satin Beluga painted veneers on the center console, instrument panel and treadplate carriers, visible when opening the door.

The interior also includes Bentley’s Rotating Display, the Naim for Bentley audio system and the Dark Chrome Interior Specification introduced for the fourth-generation Continental GT. Since its reveal as a personal commission in Monterey, the three paint fades offered by Mulliner are now available to order through the global retailer network.
