Audi AG is partnering with AT&T in the U.S. to offer high-speed 4G LTE or 3G connectivity across virtually its entire model line next year.
The partners launched LTE service this year for Audi's A3 models. About 70% of the vehicles Audi sells in the U.S. are equipped with the enabling Audi Connect infotainment system. The only 2016 model that won't offer the option is the current-generation R8 supercar.
The high-speed service operates through an SIM card that links the vehicle to AT&T's service. The system turns the vehicle into a mobile wi-fi hot spot that can handle as many as eight devices simultaneously.
Drivers can use the connection to access advanced picture-based navigation, social media, high-definition video streaming, real-time traffic reports, personalized news streaming and thousands of radio stations via the Internet.
