Confidence in Autonomous: Car eWallet
While you probably haven’t thought about how fully autonomous cars will pay road or bridge tolls or paying for an electric charge (assuming, of course, that these autonomous cars are fully electrified), ZF has for more than a year now, and in January 2017 showed off its open automotive transaction platform, Car eWallet.

While you probably haven’t thought about how fully autonomous cars will pay road or bridge tolls or paying for an electric charge (assuming, of course, that these autonomous cars are fully electrified), ZF has for more than a year now, and in January 2017 showed off its open automotive transaction platform, Car eWallet.
It has now decided to spin it off as Car eWallet GmbH, based in Berlin, with the objective to not only future develop the technology, but to attract investors and potential users of the technology.
According to Alexander Graf, who helped invent Car eWallet and who is heading the project, “We will maintain the technological connection to ZF and its product portfolio and at the same time open up Car eWallet to many other users from the entire mobility industry as well as financial service providers.”
ZF will not only be involved as regards its product portfolio, but is providing seed capital for what is being treated as a start-up.
According to Graf, “We are now working intensively on developing Car eWallet for market roll out. We have taken all necessary organizational steps to make this happen.”
Now all they need is a fleet of autonomous, electric cars. . . .
