Workers protesting wages and work conditions disrupted output at Fiat SpA and Renault SpA assembly plants in Bursa, Turkey, on Friday, Reuters reports.
Renault says about 2,500 workers at its Oyak-Renault venture in Bursa halted operations at midnight Thursday. The factory makes the Clio and Symbol superminis and Fluence C-segment sedan and Megane five-door hatch.
Protesters also stopped production on Friday at Tofas, a Fiat venture with Turkey's Koc Holding AS, in Bursa. The plant builds the Fiat Linea small sedan, Fiat Doblo/Opel Combo small vans and Fiorino small pickup truck. It also assembles the Citroen Nemo/Peugeot Bipper compact commercial vans.
The Oyak-Renault factory made about 318,000 vehicles in 2014, and the Tofas plant produced roughly 240,000 units, according to Reuters.
