VW Group Sales Slip 1% in July
Volkswagen Group reports its vehicle deliveries last month dipped to 787,300 units from 791,900 in July 2015, as fallout from the company’s diesel cheating scandal continues to hurt its namesake brand.
Volkswagen Group reports its vehicle deliveries last month dipped to 787,300 units from 791,900 in July 2015, as fallout from the company’s diesel cheating scandal continues to hurt its namesake brand.
Group volume rose in China (+16% to 285,900 units) last month. But deliveries fell in Europe (-5% to 323,800) and South America (-24% to 37,400). Demand dipped by about 7,000 units each in North America and Asia Pacific.
By brand, July sales shrank for VW (-2% to 449,100 units) and Porsche (-7% to 19,300). Results were flat at SEAT (34,900 cars) and MAN (8,700 large commercial vehicles). Deliveries last month grew for Audi (+2% to 149,400 units), Skoda (+1% to 83,700), VW commercial vehicles (+2% to 34,500) and Scania (+3% to 8,700).
Group sales through the first seven months of 2016 advanced 1% to 5.90 million vehicles.
