Valeo SA and Cisco Systems Inc. are launching a new automated parking service in France as part of a collaborative development between the companies.
Dubbed Cyber Valet, the service enables vehicles equipped with Valeo’s Park4U Auto technology to park autonomously in connected car parks. The partners announced the service at this week’s Viva Technology conference in Paris.
The first application will be at Camille Desmoulins parking garage in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France. Operated by Indigo, the garage in partnership with OPnGO, bundle payment application and plate-recognition technology with the Cyber Valet system.
After exiting a vehicle at the garage entrance, users activate the automatic parking system via their smartphone. The vehicle communicates with the garage to identify open parking spots and completes the parking maneuver. Drivers summon the vehicle to pick them up when they’re ready to leave.
The service teams Valeo’s Park4U Auto, InBlue security and onboard telematics systems with global position satellites Cisco Parking Controller technologies, which equip parking facilities with wi-fi, video sensors and artificial intelligence-based systems. The combination enables vehicles to perceive their environment with a high level of accuracy, according to the partners.
