The U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Joint Program Office has updated its national reference architecture for connected vehicles.
The voluntary standards provide a framework for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications The initiative is designed to help developers implement regional architectures that meet national guidelines.
Users can access Version 8.0 of the Architecture Reference for Cooperative and Intelligent Transportation (ARC-IT) and accompanying software tools for free online at www.arc-it.net. Described as a “major upgrade,” the new guidelines integrates content from the Version 7.1 architecture and the Connected Vehicle Reference Implementation Architecture Version 2.2.
