The German states of Baden-Wuerttemberg and Hesse are mulling plans to join Bavaria in suing Volkswagen Group for damages related to the company’s diesel-cheating scandal, Reuters reports.
Earlier this week Bavaria announced it intends to file a lawsuit in September. The complaint seeks to recoup some €700,000 ($780,000) lost by a state pension fund when news of the scandal caused VW’s stock prices to plummet.
Baden-Wuerttemberg and Hesse say they may do the same for similar reasons. Reuters reports that three other states and the city-state of Berlin say they are not considering legal action. Germany’s central government also plans to take no action, according to the finance ministry.
