Only two passenger vehicle brands, BMW and Jaguar, have been cleared so far to sell 2017-model diesel vehicles in the U.S. That’s down from nine brands in the 2016 model year, Automotive News reports.

The slowdown reflects a new array of emission tests intended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to identify efforts to evade certification standards. The new tests were implemented after Volkswagen AG admitted last year that it used cheater software in about 560,000 diesel-powered Audi, Porsche and VW cars and crossovers in the U.S.

Several planned 2017 diesel models have been delayed by the longer testing process. They include dieselized versions of the BMW 3 Series sedans and X3 and X5 crossover vehicles, Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks, the Chevy Cruze sedan, the Jeep Cherokee SUV, the Ram 1500 large pickup truck and several Mercedes-Benz cars and crossovers.
