Volkswagen AG’s Skoda brand expects to introduce five battery-powered cars by 2025 and is preparing its factory in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic to make them, Reuters reports.
The plant also will begin in 2019 to supply several VW Group brands with components for plug-in hybrid cars under its Skoda Strategy 2025 business plan. The Mlada Boleslav facility currently produces conventionally powered Fabia superminis, Octavia midsize cars and Rapid hatchbacks.
Skoda expects to introduce a plug-in version of its flagship Superb large sedan in 2019. That car will be made at the company’s factory in Kvasiny. The Mlada Boleslav plant will debut its first all-electric vehicle a year later.
