Volkswagen AG’s SEAT unit plans to launch a production version of the tiny Minimo concept electric vehicle it unveiled earlier this month in Barcelona.

Due to hit the streets in 2021, the Minimo quadricycle is intended for urban car-sharing applications. SEAT says the vehicle, which is just 98 inches long and 49 inches wide, takes up half the footprint of an average A-segment city car.

The Minimo is about the size of the Renault Twizy EV, which was launched in 2012. Both vehicles feature 1+1 seating, which positions the passenger directly behind the driver.

SEAT’s concept model is fitted with a 15-kWh battery that the company says can provide a 100-km (62-mile) range. The battery is designed to be quickly swapped out rather than recharged in the vehicle.

Other features include upward opening doors, a single headlight, 17-inch wheels and a central cabin display with smartphone integration compatibility. SEAT claims the production model will have Level 4 autonomous driving capability.
