South Korea’s environment ministry says it will fine BMW, Nissan and Porsche a combined 6.5 billion won ($5.6 million) for irregularities in their emission certification test reports.

The fines cover errors discovered in a combined 10 models made by the three carmakers, including seven from Porsche. Each manufacturer will be allowed to “clarify” its data before the fines are finalized in December.

If cheating is confirmed, the ministry says it will revoke certification and ban sales of the affected models. The ministry did just that in September when it withdrew certification of 83,000 Volkswagen Group diesel models and fined the company nearly 18 billion won ($1.5 million). About two-thirds of all vehicles sold by the group in Korea have been de-certified to date.
