Volkswagen AG’s schedule to fix the emission systems on some 2.5 million diesel car in Germany is being delayed at least six weeks, Bild reports.
The snag involves technical issues surrounding repairs to diesel-powered Passat midsize cars, according to the German newspaper. The vehicles are among 11 million diesels VW admits rigging to circumvent emission laws.
Bild says Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has not yet approved VW’s proposed modifications for the Passat. A KBA source tells the newspaper it isn’t clear whether the updates will bring the cars into compliance with Euro 5 emission standards.
VW hopes to repair about 2.5 million diesels in Germany by the end of this year.
