Renault, VW Own 40% of Europe’s Vehicle Assembly Plants

The online newspaper's tally shows that VW owns 24 factories in the region, and Renault-Nissan owns 16. PSA Peugeot Citroen is third with 12 plants.
Both carmakers have hiked their ownership in the past few years. VW bought Porsche AG, acquiring factories in Leipzig and Zuffenhausen in the process, and took over the Karmann facility in Osnabrueck. Renault-Nissan added operations in Togliatti when it gained control of Russia's OAO AvtoVAZ earlier this year.
