Porsche AG says it has acquired an unspecified minority stake in home-iX UG, a Stuttgart-based startup that specializes in “smart home” connectivity systems.

Porsche plans to work with home-iX, which was formed last year by two former Porsche employees, on a pilot program aimed at connecting vehicles with smart homes, digital assistants and other mobile devices. The carmaker, through its Porsche Digital subsidiary, will provide strategic coaching, mentoring and office space to home-iX.

Home-iX describes its “Smart Living as a Service” architecture as an open platform that enables interoperability between cross-domain devices. The company is led by CEO Mehmet Arziman and chief operating officer Heiko Scholtes, both of whom previously worked for Porsche and Daimler AG.
